NON-BINARY button shirts (designer)

Although the major differences between “men’s” and “women’s” clothing lie in their marketing, there are a few traditional tailoring distinctions, most of which are arbitrary. For example, for no relevant reason, button-down shirts are gendered based on which side of the garment the buttons/buttonholes are placed. 

The essence of Official Rebrand’s mission is to revive unwanted clothing and reintroduce it, rejecting this sewn-in binary, and making it available for anyone who feels fabulous enough to wear it. 

Our latest binary-rejecting tailoring project has been to transform second-hand shirts so the buttons are on both sides.

Sizing in inches and descriptions of variants: 

Pierre Cardin long sleeve: 60% cotton, 40% polyester. Features brown and off-white hairline vertical stripes, pearly peach toned buttons, a front chest pocket, and a flat felled seam for a clean finished edge. Originally tailored in Korea. Marked size 17-17.5 / 34/35. shoulder to shoulder 20 / chest 54 / highest point shoulder to hem 23 / shoulder to cuff 23.5. 

Armani navy long sleeve: 100% cotton. Features a navy and black micro-check pattern, breathable and lightweight cotton material, and white and grey striped lining on the edge of the button closure and inside the cuff. Original garment marked size "M" and made in Tunisia. shoulder to shoulder 18 / chest 40 / highest point shoulder to hem 22.5 / shoulder to cuff 25. 

Ralph Lauren light blue long sleeve: 100% cotton. Features a structured collar and cuff, cufflink closures, and a soft sky blue cotton fabric. Minor wear visible around the collar from this shirt's prior life. Original garment marked size 16.5 and made in Italy. shoulder to shoulder 20 / chest 46 / highest point shoulder to hem 25 / shoulder to cuff 30.
