CLAUDE CAHUN angel T

Claude Cahun defied the gender binary before long we had the language to describe it. Capturing their spirit of courage and individuality, this limited edition shirt celebrates their enduring influence on art and queer history. It features one of their 1920s self-portraits and our signature slogan, ANGELS HAVE NO GENDER in a discrete text at the top left of the graphic. 

These bright red 100% cotton T's are upcycled from unwanted promotional T-shirts discarded by a business in our neighborhood. We helped them manage this excess garment "waste" by turning these unloved tops into a unique pieces that celebrates queerness, transformation, fluidity and creative self expression. Traces of the original print may be visible, showing the dynamic history and layered narrative that make these shirts so uniquely anti-waste. We love them for their non-automated, DIY feel, and cropped boxy fit. Black T's are printed on extra T's from our screen printer and not-overprinted over another design. 

Cut and sewn by workers in Mexico, designed, cleaned, and cropped in Ridgewood, Queens and screen-printed by hand in Bushwick, Brooklyn. 

Wash COLD inside out gentle cycle or by hand with standard or mild detergent. no bleach/Oxiclean/Dreft/extra-strength soap. Do not iron on print.
